We’ve got it booked
Hello and welcome to our wedding website. This updates page is where we will be writing the latest news and progress. There might even be some polls going out where you can help us get through the planning phase.
We thought we’d start this one with a bit of background. We started discussing marriage as a genuine prospect in summer 2021 and decided that while it was still only hypothetical, there were worse things that could happen. We then didn’t really do much with that thought until Christmas, when we found ourselves changing plans at the last minute for the second year in a row. At least this time we managed to leave the house. With lots of plans cancelled and time on our hands while doing a more low-key celebration of Marina’s 30th birthday, we decided to discuss marriage again and this time we decided it was time to take the plunge.
We got back to London a couple of weeks later, after telling our families and decided to get planning in earnest. We decided to keep things small and just to celebrate with close friends and immediate family during the ceremony and dinner. We’ll be inviting some local friends and colleagues down later in the evening to join in the celebrations. We went to visit quite a few venues before eventually striking lucky with the Dog & Fox in Wimbledon Village. We’ll be in their Coach House (near the hotel reception). The lovely room, good location, delicious food and enthusiasm and flexibility of the staff won us over. Even better, we can do everything in one place, including staying the night (which, if you’re reading this, you might want to consider too). And they were free on the exact date we wanted!
Soon enough, we’d booked in for the 11th of August 2022 with the ceremony at 2:00 PM sharp (so don’t be late!), booked a registrar and arranged to give notice. We’re officially making it official.
Now we just need to sort out wedding dress, wedding suit, food, drinks, cake, music and all the other bits I’ve forgotten to include.
As a bonus for those reading this, we’re sorting out a playlist for dancing in the evening and need your suggestions. Get in touch with your requests and we’ll include the good ones, but remember it’s a party so don’t be surprised if we reject your favourite 3 hour long Gregorian chant classic.
